We can't say for sure it is actually an ancestor of modern birds rather than a side-branch that ultimately died out, but as explained that is not a genuine problem. Yet the living fossils reveal that living things did not descend from one another in stages, nor have they evolved in any way. We have been collecting dinosaur bones for over 20 years at our site in South Dakota. The Chondrites shown in these pictures occurred in Silurian rocks of the Dunquin Group on the Dingle Peninsula in western Ireland.
